I oversee the management of key financial risks arising from operation of the company. These include currency risks, liquidity risks, credit risks and tax risks. • Currency risks - Monitoring net cash exposures, reviewing hedging programs both in terms of natural and active hedges, implementing new hedge solutions and evaluating hedging performance. Programs which I manage include hedging balance sheet exposures and product margin risks for tenors up to a year. At month end, SAP entries are also duly reviewed to ensure hedge accounting is properly applied. • Liquidity risks - Using global treasury platforms to track daily cash positions and drawing short term forecasts to ensure adequate working liquidity. My portfolio in GCP covers 22 legal entities across APAC. Cash forecasting are performed to chart liquidity trends, and active credit lines maintained to address any potential cash shortfalls. I also closely connect with FP&A team for insights on changes in trends affecting top line and OPEX that would impact cash.• Credit risks - Assessing customers’ credit standing by reviewing their financial statements, payment track record and underlying character of the customer. In certain ways, this can be judged by their efforts to honor their payment commitments. I also need to forecast AR reserves and update Management of potential P&L impact. • Tax risks - Ascertaining right billing factor to charge for intercompany shipments to manage transfer pricing risks, and calculating the appropriate transfer pricing adjustment for the distributor to earn an arm’s length margin as a limited risk trading entity.

Assumed role of Manager Treasury in Jul 14 till Feb 16. Responsible for managing key financial risks arising from operation of company and its portfolio of subsidiary airlines, including currency, liquidity and counterparty risks. In charge of overseeing various programs put in place to manage exposures from these areas and to implement enhancements where applicable. Also in charge of enhancing yield on cash reserves. My team and I had to constantly think of how to maximize returns at acceptable risk levels without compromising on liquidity. We also needed to manage earnings volatility which may be created from structured products under the new FRS109 regime. This requires us to work closely with our banking partners to identify the desired products.

First in charge of overseas cash management, cash flow forecasting and bank account arrangement across SIA global network. Subsequently assumed the responsibility of FX dealer and in charge of dealing currencies and administering the currency hedging program for the Group. In 2012, redeployed to Corporate Finance and entrusted with various special projects like review of capital structure, liquidity strategies, debt capital market issuance and subsidiary financing arrangements.
