Designed, implemented, and managed a business offering providing hosting and managed services. Used cutting-edge technologies including Puppet, Amazon Web Services, Icinga, and Git to automate infrastructure management and provide efficient and cost-effective strategies for maintaining complex customer environments. Migrated a high-traffic website from a physical hosting provider in Los Angeles to a vCloud hosting provider in Denver. Replicated a complex technology stack including Varnish, Nginx, Apache, PHP-FPM, MariaDB, MongoDB, and Memcached using Puppet to manage configurations and Nagios and Munin to monitor availability and performance. Transferred over 3TB of data and kept a mix of new files, MariaDB, and MongoDB databases synchronized across environments during the migration process. Planned and executed the final cutover.Designed and implemented Nagios monitoring systems for several large environments, monitoring hundreds of servers and network devices for availability and performance. Integrated custom scripts and code to measure and track performance statistics such as CPU and memory usage over time. Set up version control of all configuration files with an automated syntax check run after every commit.
