I currently hold the position of full professor of Management at the School of Economics and Management, University of Minho, Portugal.Previously, I served as the manager of the Research Precariat project at the OECD's Global Science Forum. Prior to that, I worked as a lead analyst for the Higher Education Resources project, which was part of the OECD's Enhancing Higher Education System Performance program. I also served as the acting manager for the OECD School Resources Review and as the lead analyst for the Benchmarking Higher Education System Performance project.My academic career focuses on operations management, specifically in the areas of performance management and measurement in education, higher education, and science. I have had the opportunity to study and work in various European countries, both in academia and industry. Throughout my career, policy and strategy development have become increasingly central to my work.I have collaborated with the broader community in an expert capacity, leveraging my diverse teaching experience at different levels and my involvement in designing and restructuring courses up to the doctoral level. In addition, I have gained valuable experience in securing research funding, managing and coordinating research projects, and meeting project deadlines. My research findings have been disseminated through various channels, including conferences, workshops, internationally peer-reviewed journals, and book chapters. I have also been actively engaged in university management structures, where my expertise in areas such as quality, accreditation, and performance has been sought after.As my work progressed, I have increasingly focused on policy and strategy development, collaborating with educational organizations and government bodies to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and inclusivity of education, higher education, and science systems.
