I was a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) medic deployed to Al Asad, Iraq with the Marine Corps 2/10 Fox Company in September 2004 to April 2005 for Operation Iraqi Freedom II. During the fall of 2003, the Commanding Officer of the USS Gonzalez awarded me the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal for poise and exemplary service in an emergency situation.
