I was responsible for the design and revamp of steam methane reformers for methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, GTL and syngas plants. IHI has a long history with methanol, ammonia, and syngas plants, and they work on all plants, regardless of licensor.

I was responsible for the steam methane reformer furnace design by KBR Technology, as well as servicing reformers from other technology providers. This also included SMRs for not only ammonia plants, but also for hydrogen and methanol plants, as well as other miscellaneous heaters in syngas plants.In addition, I managed the Technology furnace groups in Houston and New Delhi, and the design of all KBR proprietary furnaces. This included the SCORE technology cracking furnaces, and the legacy Kellogg Millisecond furnaces.

As a new graduate, this is where I cut my teeth as a furnace specialist. I designed Kellogg's proprietary furnaces, including steam methane reformers and Millisecond steam crackers, with increasing responsibility. In addition, I specified and reviewed third party designed heaters, incinerators, and flares, particularly in refineries.My design experience included not only new grassroots designs, but especially revamps of existing facilities. I was the furnace specialist responsible for all reformer revamp projects at Kellogg.
