I help to oversee the features and special projects, mostly occurring in the 8 a.m. hour of CBS Mornings. I assemble and manage the story pitches from the staff and lead the discussion among the seniors about what to greenlight. I help to storyboard these pieces with producers to get ahead of any editorial or editing questions. I assemble and manage the story pitches from the staff and lead the discussion among the seniors about what to greenlight. I help to storyboard these pieces with producers to get ahead of any editorial or editing questions. I also assist or spearhead special projects for the broadcast, including orchestrating an elaborate on-air surprise for one of the anchors. I am the primary backfill for several other positions, including the senior broadcast producer, 8 a.m. senior, overnight senior and features senior. Additionally, I manage the Broadcast Associate program and rebuilt it from scratch. I hired several entry-level employees for various tasks, from general assignment duties to factchecking. I selected music to come in/out of commercial breaks, finalized the lower third bars for every story and gave a final once-over of anchor intro and tease copy. I worked with the producer on selecting the stories for each segment and provided guidance on how best to tell those stories visually that would garner reaction and engagement from the anchors. Over a period of several years, I've written for anchors including Gayle King, Norah O'Donnell, John Dickerson, Anthony Mason and Jane Pauley. I became skilled at learning the voice of each particular anchor and amending how I'd write a story based on how he or she would deliver it.
