I was the first analyst hired by Burton Group in 2006 to form a new Data Center Strategies team. At Burton Group, I was tasked with extending the Burton Group brand to be recognized as a thought leader in the x86 virtualization market. In less than three years, the Data Center Strategies team had several hundred active clients mostly comprised of Global 2000 organizations. My work at Burton Group resulted in an evaluation criteria that compared x86 server virtualization solutions; that allowed Burton Group to lead the IT research industry with the first independent competitive analysis of all major x86 virtualization vendors. Beyond writing research, my role at Burton Group involved offering advisory services to IT architects and directors responsible for building server virtualization architectures ranging from hundreds to more than one hundred thousand VMs globally.

I was hired in 2003 to develop the 300 and 400 level courses for ECPI's regionally accredited bachelor of science degree program. Courses that I developed included advanced networking, network security, network troubleshooting, and project management. For my efforts, I was named the 2004 Virginia Career College Association Professor of the Year. As my consulting business grew, I continued working with ECPI by serving as the CIS Department Head for the online campus. In that role, I managed a team of five full-time instructors and seven adjuncts. I was responsible for course evolution, textbook selection, and instructor mentoring. I was hired by CommVault to help build a new global training department from the ground up. During my tenure, I wrote the very first CommVault Galaxy training courseware and also developed the first CommVault e-learning software that was sold to customers in 2003.
