I represented the government of the Netherlands in a diplomatic capacity at a number of UN bodies in Vienna, Austria, including the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the International Atomic Energy Agence (IAEA), and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).As part of my duties, I took part in the negotiations for the Doha Declaration on Integrating Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. I also engaged in lobbying campaigns with stakeholders ranging from national representatives to civil society and business representatives, particularly with respect to international drug policy. I planned and facilitated side events and bilateral meetings involving high-ranking officials.Responsibilities included:- Partaking in and reporting back on multilateral negotiations, and bilateral meetings, donor meetings.- Writing reports and diplomatic cables- Conducting multi-stakeholder lobbying campaigns (particularly on international drugs policy)- Liaising with other government departments and external stakeholders- Researching policy positions

I conducted research on international policy projects concerning children's rights and engaged in lobbying and advocacy efforts. The primary project I worked on was the European Commission funded Core Standards for Guardians 2.0 project; a pan-European project involving nine partners throughout Europe.
