Query processing in Spanner, a globally distributed, infinitely scalable and strongly consistent database, which powers some of the largest services in the world, such as Gmail, YouTube and Google Photos.- Query processing and performance optimization for traditional SQL, as well as graph, semantic search and full-text search. Led and launched query processing for Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) vector search, and up to 3x performance improvements in Spanner Graph.- Previously Tech Lead on SQL language features. Built backend services for Microsoft's FinTech infrastructure, which processes millions of daily payment transactions for all Microsoft's key businesses such as Azure, Office 365, Xbox Live and Windows Store.Contributed to:- The core billing service that processes real-time transactions and coordinates all billing, tax, payment and financial reporting related activities.- The revenue recognition service that manages and executes millions of recognition schedules for subscriptions.- The message queue that reliably delivers millions of transaction events among services every day.- The tax id service that manages the tax ids of customers registered at all different Microsoft product portals.- The payout service that manages payouts and tax form generation for third-party developers.- The migration of the storage layer of billing services from on-premise SQL Server to Azure for better scalability.- The migration of legacy billing services from SQL mirroring / log shipping to availability groups to enable hot DC failover without down time.

Developed features for .NET framework, Visual Studio and ASP .NET Web API.- Built the graphical designer for the State Machine workflow (WF) activity, shipped with Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and .NET 4.0 Platform Update 1.- Built and maintained several key features (multi-select, auto-connect, etc.) for the new version of WF designer infrastructure, shipped with Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4.0.- Built an interactive web-based test client for Web API developers to easily test the RESTful APIs that they build, released as an open-source project.- Led performance measurement and improvements for WCF tools and WF designer.- 3-year member of the distinctive HiPo / Tech Bench program for high performers and future leaders.- Co-authored two US patents.

Worked on the Revit development team. Revit is Autodesk's flagship design software for the architecture, engineering and construction industries.- Led a team of 4 engineers responsible for 3D navigation & animation and other new UI components in Revit. The team independently built the new 3D navigation features, namely ViewCube and SteeringWheels, which were first shipped in Revit 2009 and improved in Revit 2010.- Led a team sized from 4 to 7 engineers responsible for the data interoperability module in Revit. This was one of the first teams to work on Revit in China.- Built a portion of the .NET API that enables building 3rd party extensions on top of Revit.

Pioneered the Remote Gaming System that enables playing PC games on TV sets in the Intel Digital Home.
