I began working as the Executive Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Lyman Ward Military Academy in June 2017. I am primarily responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for all donors, companies, and foundations in order to raise scholarship money for cadets (students) attending Lyman Ward. In addition, I plan and coordinate all fundraising events and programs for the academy. I am looking forward to the expansion of the development programs in order to appropriately serve all of the academy’s stakeholders.

As an intern for the Auburn University Office of Gift Planning, I reported directly to the Senior Director and Development Coordinator. I maintained stewardship practices for all Auburn University donors with a planned gift as well as participated in various pipeline meetings. I assisted the development officers in identifying potential donors throughout the country and coordinated contact visits for the Senior Director of Gift Planning as well as the Associate Directors of Gift Planning.

I served as the Graduate Assistant for the Cary Center for the Advancement of Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies in the College of Human Sciences from January 2016 to May 2017. As part of my assistantship, I connected nonprofit affiliates to the Cary Center’s Volunteers in Philanthropy (VIP) program. This program allows Auburn University students the opportunity to learn about nonprofit work through hands-on experiences. In addition, I served as the advisor for the Student Philanthropy Board. The Student Philanthropy Board is an official Auburn University organization that teaches students about nonprofit organizations and their importance in today’s society. I efficiently led students through the primary grant project. This project allowed Auburn students to write, submit, and present a grant proposal on behalf of another organization on campus. My primary responsibilities, however, were to assist the Director of the Women’s Philanthropy Board to cultivate and solicit active and potential donors. I provided appropriate stewardship techniques for all donors and assisted with the renewals of donor pledges in Advance. In addition, I helped prepare for large-scale events, such as the Spring Symposium with Former First Lady Laura Bush.

Cary Center For The Advancement Of Philanthropy And Nonprofit Studies

I was primarily responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Director of Programs in expanding and implementing various academic and outreach programs, particularly Volunteers in Philanthropy, Camp iCare, and REAL Cents REAL Change. I helped create virtual venues, such as ePortfolios, and promotional materials, such as handouts and presentations. I assisted with promoting Volunteers in Philanthropy by speaking at classes, increasing VIP affiliates, and facilitating the volunteer opportunities for students. In addition, I served as an advisor for the Student Philanthropy Board, a pre-professional organization that gives students opportunities to interact with nonprofit organizations and leaders in the sector, as well as provide different service projects for the Auburn and Opelika communities.
