Hack for LA brings together groups of volunteers to build technology addressing the LA region’s biggest civic issues. As part of Hack for LA, I was part of a team that provided pro bono design consulting services to LA Family Housing, an organization committed to helping individuals experiencing homelessness with a path towards housing. I also worked with Metro On Time, a publicly-sourced data analysis and visualization tool that tracked historical data on the LA Metro Rail’s performance. As a Product Designer, I collaborated with other product designers, project managers, and software engineers to ensure the tools we built had a tangible, positive impact for the users. I was involved in coordinating and conducting user research, and working with our engineers to design and improve the user experience of the apps we built.
