I am pursuing my Doctors of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. I am interested in blending synthetic organic chemistry with computational chemistry to develop and understand methods for carbon-carbon bond formation using visible light. Current work includes the photomediated enantioselective alpha-alkylation of cyclic ketones via electron donor-acceptor complexes, which can lead toward method development for pharmaceutical drugs. Alongside research, I independently teach 2-3 (organic I, II or advanced techniques) laboratory classes a semester.I also attended undergrad at the University of North Carolina Wilmington receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. During that time I worked in an organic synthesis lab under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Coombs investigating the enantiomeric effects of various imidazolidinone organocatalysts. Before attending UNCW, I acquired my Associate of Science and Associate of Art from Southeastern Community College.
