Director Of Design & Construction
As the Director of Facility Design & Construction at Denver International Airport, I provide strategic leadership to a group of high-performing architects, engineers, and project managers to develop, design, construct, and operationalize the most sustainable facility projects possible across the 53 square-mile airport campus. My role oversees the capital improvement plan and O&M facility projects, and my team implements the design and performance standards, design standards manuals, master specifications, and high-performance building policies and procedures established to achieve sustainability and efficiency in the built-environment at DEN.As the design and development organization responsible for vertical construction at DEN, my team drives and delivers on the LEED and WELL building certification for both new construction and existing building renovations. Enhancing the sustainability of the built-environment at DEN in order to reduce the total cost-of-ownership and environmental impact is a primary focus of vertical development at DEN and the Design, Engineering, and Construction team.
Energy Manager
Responsible for the strategic energy planning, management, and implementation of enterprise-wide energy and sustainability programs and policies in order to impact the energy use for the largest economic engine in the State of Colorado. Primary goals in my role as energy manager include realization of opportunities for improving the sustainability, energy efficiency, demand reduction, and improvement of the airport’s existing energy use, as well as identification of additional opportunities to meet DEN's increasing and projected energy demand; focusing on sustainability through reliability, resiliency, cost-effectiveness, and low-carbon solutions.Achievement of these goals is dependent on my ability to identify, develop, and implement projects, policies, and strategies to reduce facility-wide energy use and manage the airport-wide strategic energy vision using all available information, data, and resources. In this effort, I work with various DEN leaders, Project Managers, and Engineers to support the design, construction, and renovation of DEN facilities and assets.DEN is the 19th-busiest airport in the world and the sixth-busiest airport in the United States. DEN is one of the busiest airline hubs in the world's largest aviation market, and the airport is the primary economic engine for the state of Colorado, generating more than $26 billion for the region annually. Spanning more than 53 square miles, DEN is the largest and newest commercial airport in the United States. The airport Westin hotel features a rail station that connects the airport with Denver Union Station via the University of Colorado A Line commuter rail service. DEN has the capacity to double in size and is well positioned for future growth as a global gateway to the Rocky Mountain Region and a key link for products and people throughout the world. DEN's total building square footage spans more than 17M square feet with plans for future expansion.
