Sales Manager, Maritime Client Training
I am now on to my next great adventure in the Maritime World and back into the business of Learning & Development and Training for the Maritime Sector where I'll be working with our clients both current & new, helping solve their needs with our learning solutions whether face-to-face, digitally or even a combination of the two.
Sales Manager
In this role I helped existing Ocean Technologies Group clients transition over from MTS, Seagull and Videotel to the Ocean Learning Platform which is the first Learning Management System specifically designed for the development of Seafarers.
Business Development Manager
My role as Business Development Manager for Lloyd's Maritime Academy involved working with a range of clients with our learning & development solutions to help them overcome the challenges they face in the shipping industry whether that's working with a client on their graduate programme, helping a commodities operations team with their laytime calculations or a group of marine engineers with the inner workings of an FPSO, we helped our clients wherever they were in the world. This was predominantly with the shore based teams of our clients, however, we were also working with seafarers or other offshore workers from time-to-time in-order to help them develop a wider understanding of the shipping industry, especially if they were looking at moving into shore based roles in the future.Again this role took me far & wide from Panama all the way to Kiribati in the South Pacific as we worked with our clients on a global basis to help them develop the business skills & knowledge of their people.
Business Development Manager
Delivering customised in-house training & online learning to the offshore oil & gas, ports & terminals and logistics sectors globally. With many of our clients in emerging markets this has meant that I have been a frequent visitor to West Africa and East & South East Asia working with our clients to:-> Develop their talent's understanding & skills related to the offshore oil & gas sector;> Understand how to manage terminal operations in order to maintain a competitive advantage; and> Understand international trade & the supply chain in-order to improve the decision making ability of their people; along with many more oil & gas, ports & terminals, logistics or supply chain focused needs. With such an international focus and the opportunity for travel far & wide; this role has developed my ability to understand & interpret how learning & development varies globally from region to region and how important it is to understand these differences when delivering a solution in-order to make sure our clients have ROI on their training initiatives. However with the creation of KNect365 https://knect365.com, IBC Academy's programmes will now move under the Lloyd's Maritime Academy umbrella.
Sales Manager
After two years as a Training Consultant with Language Key; my managers offered me the role of Sales Manager for their Hong Kong Office.I had no hesitation in taking this role as I wanted a new challenge within the business and as I had been delivering our training courses previously; I felt I would be the perfect person to go into our clients all over Hong Kong to sell our learning solutions. In my seventeen months in the role; I achieved a sales revenue of HKD 2.6 million with my clients including banks, hotels, construction firms, insurance companies, shipping and logistics firms; merchandisers and many other types of companies. This was a great experience and set me up perfectly for my return to the UK and my next role within the learning & development industry.
Training Consultant
This was my first role in Hong Kong after being made redundant at CEMEX in December 2007.As I had been delivering classroom and one-to-one training as part of the CEMEX Way project; I felt that I had excelled at delivering training, so, moving into the Corporate Training sector in Hong Kong to help individuals and companies to improve their business speaking & writing skills seemed a natural next step for me.I enjoyed the interaction with our clients and delivering our solutions to their people with business writing skills being an area of training which I excelled in, however, I wanted a new opportunity and this was recognised with my next role with Language Key.
Consultant In Development
After six month of working for CEMEX; I was moved into their CEMEX Way Project team where I was involved with the implementation of CEMEX's production & despatch technology into their UK OperationsThis firstly involved me moving from region to region, where I would direct & leading classroom training for CEMEX UK Operations staff introducing them to the CEMEX Way and how this was going to change the way they did their job in the future.Once the classroom training was over, we'd then move into the plants providing one-to-one & group level training in the operational environment, the testing & problem solving of CEMEX's new technology and then overseeing the Go-Live period and offering advice & support to CEMEX's operational team. This role involved travel all across the UK and was my first experience of having multinational colleagues with my colleagues coming from all over Latin America & Europe to deliver this project. This role gave me my first experience in learning & development, but, also helped me to understand how creating the right environment for learning helps to win 'hearts & minds' when it comes to change and how change can be successful if you have your team believing in what's been delivered.
Internal Sales Administrator
Overview: Providing support to CEMEX Sales Representatives in obtaining Sales OrdersThis was my first role after leaving university and as CEMEX were often used as a case study when studying my International Business Degree; I already knew how progressive and successful they'd been, so, when this internal sales role became available, I knew I'd be joining a company where I'd be given the opportunity to progress. My role here involved me supporting our sales representatives across the South West England region, so, providing price quotes, sales, generating contracts, cold/warm calling and resolving invoice queries for our clients across the region. This was a great introduction to the corporate world, however, I wasn't there too long before moving onto the CEMEX Way project.
Technical Support Advisor
Whilst studying my degree in International Business; I worked for Capita for sixteen hours a week providing technical support to Wanadoo/Orange Broadband customers from their call centre in Sheffield. This helped to bring in some pocket money whilst I was studying and allowed me the occasional night out ready for moving into my first career role post university.
