Natural Resource Management Supervisor
Biological Administrator
I worked in regional operations within the Wildlife and Habitat Management Section of FWC. My role was to handle hiring of new staff members, oversee regional expenditures, work together with our team of biologists to help plan wildlife habitat management activities, project oversight, land acquisitions, and serve on technical assistance teams as needed.
Wildlife Biologist
As a cooperative area biologist, I worked within 5 different FWC properties and maintained many different roles therein to function across division and agency lines. I oversaw 10 hunter check stations throughout the Ocala National Forest during the fall, collected necropsy samples from hunter harvested deer, performed many wildlife surveys in the spring and summer, assisted in and managed prescribed fires as an ecological restoration tool, served on wildfire strike teams, and managed a yearly budget. I performed many different kinds of administrative duties, functioned as a resource for wildlife management decisions, assisted in bear management, maintained a GIS database, operated and repaired many kinds of land management tools (atv’s, tractors, fire engines etc) and gave educational presentations to groups on occasion. This position also involved various other related duties as assigned throughout the year.
Wildlife Biologist
As an assistant WMA biologist, I was exposed to a variety of wildlife management related tasks. I managed all of CRWMA's hunts (as well as hiring OPS workers), collected necropsy information from harvested game, assisted in all Rx fire on site, performed wildlife surveys (mammals, avian and herps), performed heavy equipment operation and maintenance, performed nuisance black bear work (trapping and chemical immobilization), maintained a GIS database, maintained photo plots, purchased equipment, manage invasive plant issues, assisted and/or managed ecosystem management practices, maintained CRWMA's many nest boxes, and performed a variety of other related field oriented tasks on the WMA.
