Manager, Engineering & DesignMitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas, Inc. Nov 2007 - Jul 2019• Responsible supervisor for creating, consolidating and maintaining engineering standards and programs such as computer programs, calculation sheets, procedures across all engineering disciplines.• Performing CFD calculations for SCR, FGD and Boiler systems to optimize the designs of these systems so that customer specifications and emission requirements are met.• Performing engineering tasks in the Plant Design group such as stress analysis for pipes/drums/headers (according to ASME B31.1 and Section 1), reinforcement design and ligament efficiency calculations for drum/header/pressure vessel openings, weld end preparations (ASME B16.25) for pipes and valves, pressure drop calculations for circulation (one phase and two phase), heat transfer/fluid dynamics calculations, pipe specifications for design and 3d models, lug attachments to pressure parts design, insulation thickness calculation and material quantity estimation, coal conduit dead load and seismic calculations, exhaust pipe sizing, combustion analysis, drum internals design and pipe clamp design. These works are performed for variety of projects and proposals including Boiler, Selective Catalytic Reducer (SCR), Air Quality Control System (AQCS/FGD) projects and proposals. A Number of engineering programs are written and maintained for performing the tasks above. A client-server database is implemented to maintain and track manhours for project tasks. -
Research AssistantLehigh University Jul 2002 - Nov 2007• Modeling heat transfer and fluid flow problems.• Modeling the fluid flow in the melt pool in the LENS process (Laser Engineered Net Shaping, one of the earlier 3D metal printing technologies) by using commercial CFD codes. This work is a part of an NSF project which proposes to repair turbine blades while keeping the structure single crystal in turbomachinery applications. • Finite element simulation of LENS process. Developing methods to improve the quality of LENS produced thin walled parts. • Working on a joint study with Monash University, Australia to investigate the effects of different heat transfer models on structures. Another joint study collaborated with Civil Engineering Department at Lehigh is being performed to calculate the residual stresses in bridge constructions.• Preparing introductory FEA tutorials for graduate level manufacturing class. -
Engineering InternJohn Deere May 2005 - Aug 2005• Worked on improving life of joint designs used in the products by providing stress data predicted by finite element simulations. Traveled to John Deere factories to collect welding parameters for each joint.• Generated FEA mesh from available CAD models and used FEA results in improving existing designs.• Took part in team meetings and contributed ideas for the ongoing project. -
