So far 16000 employee timesheets have been processed for that one company via their juto app.Kin Babysitters (kinsitters.com.au) - "uber for babysitters" - mobile app and web app. o Over 2000 families and 400 qualified babysitters are now using it.

Employee #1 at Totally, a Perth-based startup. I proactively built a team of 7 software developers in a challenging market. I designed an Amazon Web Services serverless architecture, and built out a framework and prototype runtime for Totally's no-code application builder, whereby the application flow and data are completely defined via JSON. Technologies include React, XState, Amazon DynamoDB, Cognito, Lambda, GraphQL / AppSync, TypeScript and Node.js.

Conceptualized, developed (coded!), marketed, sold and supported our no-code app builder for businesses, including recruiting and managing the development team. South Metro TAFE is the largest training provider in Western Australia, with some 25,000 students. I specialised in teaching Mobile Development, Programming and Web Development at Diploma and Associate Degree level. This required very strong presentation skills, together with superior written and verbal communication skills.

I designed and built the online application process for Westpac Bank’s online share trading system using Spring Web Flow (Java), saving the client tens of thousands of dollars in processing costs and providing a much-improved customer experience. I also worked on the live trading sites for Suncorp, Westpac, NAB and Netwealth (all of whom were clients of IWL prior to acquisition of IWL by the Commonwealth Bank). The architecture was Spring (enterprise java) with Oracle.

Working remotely from Perth, Australia for Screwfix (located in Yeovil, U.K.)Duties were a combination of ATG/J2EE web development and consultancy (i.e. answering website-related queries from developers and senior management, assisting in handover and knowledge transfer to the new development team). Development projects included incorporating a new visual design into Screwfix's discussion forums and migrating the forums from Tomcat to ATG v7.1

screwfix.com is in many respects the largest transactional website in the UK. In 2002, screwfix.com underwent a complete redevelopment, moving to an ATG Dynamo (J2EE) and Oracle site from what was previously a mySQL and php-based site. I was the technical lead for the project, and was also in charge of further development and support of the website since the revamped screwfix.com site went live in September 2002. This involved extensive use of enterprise java technologies such as servlets, JSPs and JMS, as well as ATG Commerce, ATG scenario server, ATG personalization server and Oracle. All of the ATG technologies were run on Dynamo Application Server (DAS). In addition I was the sole developer for Screwfix's discussion forums, which runs on Tomcat and is integrated with the ATG-based website. After the redevelopment, screwfix.com won Retail Week’s “2002 E-tailer of the Year” and ECMOD's "best website", and sales more than doubled to £100m per annum in sales, accounting for roughly 66% of Screwfix’s total sales. Screwfix.com now accounts for over £1bn in sales annually.

IMGroup was a business intelligence consultancy that was later acquired by Hitachi.I designed and built Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for clients including BP, IBM, Pentland, and Unilever. Technologies were focused on enterprise java, JavaScript, and HTML, with a SQL Server back-end.

Centrelink is the name for Australia’s Department of Social Security. This was my first experience where customers (branch managers) whom I hadn’t met phoned me to thank me for the system I’d designed and built! The system identified which paper customer files (i.e., former welfare recipient files) the branches could safely destroy according to complex data retention rules (which I had to gather from different business areas), resulting in over 1000 branches significantly de-cluttering as well as much-improved privacy for the individuals concerned. The technology involved was enterprise java and Model-204 RDBMS.

FAL was Western Australia's biggest independent retailer - owning the Action, Foodland, Supa-Valu and Dewsons brands as well as some whole grocery brands and a liquor business - before being acquired by Metcash in 2005. Most of its retail empire now trades under the IGA brand.I built a worker productivity measurement system for FAL’s warehouse, utilising the scanning of unique barcodes that were distributed around the warehouse, together with barcode scanners connected via a radio-frequency network (this was before Wi-Fi!). Employee efficiency improved by over 40%. The technology involved was Model-204 RDBMS.

I assisted Professor Richard Thomas in researching and retrieving data from an unstructured data warehouse and producing most of the diagrams for his book Long Term Human – Computer Interaction, an Exploratory Perspective (ISBN: 3540762094). Work involved programming the Unix Z-shell (“zsh”) as well as awk and gnuplot.
