  • Evolving Systems, Inc.
    Staff Accountant; Project Accountant
    Evolving Systems, Inc. 2006 - 2011
    Manchester , England, Gb
I was at Evolving Systems, an international software company in the Telecommunications space, during the Great Recession of 2008-2009. We conducted business in four different currencies across multiple countries and experienced major swings in the exchange rates during this time. I noticed the exchange rate swings were causing huge variances in the value of our inventory and the actual revenue we were generating. Upon further analysis, I determined we incorrectly recorded unearned revenue, COGS and other transactions in dollars when the original transaction was in GBP or Euros. This caused the larger currency adjustment over multiple years. I realized we needed to go back in time and restate 2 years of financial statements for our auditors. This change actually increased our revenue for those periods and increased the share price for our stock.I was later promoted to prepare the annual budget and monthly financial statements for two international subsidiaries in six different currencies.• Analyzed and determined monthly currency fluctuations in all revenue and expense accounts.• Prepared UK National Statistics filings and Annual Class 1B National Insurance Calculations.• Served the Director of Revenue in building monthly WIP and revenue recognition reports in multiple currencies.• Managed Corporate Time Management and Project Tracking systems and trained new employees.
