My recreational interest in literature caused me to 'fall' into a career that I hadn't expected or pursued.Nineteen years later and I have carried some diverse labels. Asset management, Library assistant - Library technician. Library coordinator (same job, more duties!). Library manager - still Asset Management. Newsletter coordinator(yes, still only 24 hours in a day.)When you discover a really good thing, you tend to becoming passionate about it and it becomes vital that you awaken as many people as possible to its rewards - that is me and reading. Books and reading have to compete with so many other recreational pastimes where adolescents are concerned. Looking back over those nineteen years, I know I have successfully introduced young people to reading - and it has stuck. However, the notches in my hunting belt are not enough. I don't want to dust books - I want to lend them out and know that they have been enjoyed.I don't care how slowly you read, or your preference in genre - I only care about the fact that you have picked up a book and been positively changed in any tiny way by that reading experience.
