At Shillington College of Graphic Design I learned all the tools and skills to become a commercially applicable graphic designer. I completed briefs ranging from half a day to 2-3 days, allowing me to learn the realistic timescales of fulfilling briefs in a studio setting. I learned a solid foundation of graphic design principles and history, typography, typesetting, colour theory, software skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Sketch, and completed briefs in all fields of graphic design: web (UX/UI), apps (UX/UI), editorial (both print and digital), packaging, campaigns, etc. The final result was a commercially-driven portfolio, relevant to the industry.

I learned to be very adaptable to all kinds of situations, changing lesson plans on the fly if needed. It was a high pressure environment with full classes spent public speaking in front of the classes. I had to be very culturally aware of situations, and I enjoyed sharing my culture with the kids in an educational way while they learned English.
