Instilled with a passion for music and history at an early age, Curry was born and raised in Prairieville, Louisiana, a small town between Baton Rouge and New Orleans where the ancient Bayou Manchac meets the timeworn Amite River. After earning an Associates Degree in Recording Arts, the pursuit of a career in the music industry would carry him all the way to Memphis, Tennessee where a job sweeping floors and tending the doors turned into a 12-year staff gig at the legendary Ardent Studios. Having learned from some of the top producers and artists in the country, Curry has gone on to engineer, produce, mix and assist on over 250 recording projects including Grammy, Dove and ARIA Award-nominated albums. From Huey Lewis and the News to Lisa Marie Presley, his experience at Ardent was invaluable. Shortly after meeting his wife in Memphis and starting a family, an opportunity to join the team at the world-famous Sun Studio arose and it was not to be missed. Beginning as a tour guide, it was bluntly apparent that there was no other place in the universe where music and history converged with more explosive energy. Before leaving Sun, Curry recorded and mixed numerous studio albums, engineered 2 seasons of the Sun Sessions on PBS and participated in projects for NBC, CMT, the History Channel, NPR and Popular Mechanics.Since the move to Baldwin County, his love for history has only increased. After nearly 2 decades in the music industry, Curry by pure chance, was given the opportunity to start a career pursuing his other great passion, history. Utilizing many of the same skills garnered during his successful recording career such as leadership, good communication, organization and multitasking, he began working with the team at the Mobile office of TerraX, a Tuscaloosa-based Cultural Resource Management company. Starting out as an assistant in the lab cleaning artifacts, Curry has since joined the team at All Phases Archaeology and added research and fieldwork to his job description.Curry lives in Lillian, Alabama with his wife Laura, their 4 children, 3 cats and a rabbit. He is a member of the Baldwin County Historic Development Commission, the Alabama Historical Association and is the creator and admin for the Historic Lillian FB group. He continues to mix albums and occasionally travels for recording projects while his wife lives her dream as an RN working with mothers and babies in Pensacola.
