As of June 2022, I am retired from the practice of law. During my 35 year practice, I focused on the resolution of complex labor and employment disputes. I represented clients in several sectors, but developed a particular concentration on addressing employers' rights and obligations relating to disputes arising in the health care field. For almost 20 years, I acted as the American Hospital Association's outside counsel for labor matters affecting the hospital industry. On behalf of the AHA, I authored amicus briefs and comments on a variety of important policy topics facing hospital employers, including federal preemption of state laws affecting labor-management relations, the National Labor Relations Board's proposed rule changes, and the proposed expansion of the federal contractor jurisdiction over hospitals.As a retired law firm partner, I plan to continue to serve on the San Francisco Symphony and SF SPCA boards and to mediate cases on behalf of the Norther District of California's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. Writing about the state of federal labor law is also a goal.
