Former corporate attorney, having retired in January 2013. Since then I have been reading extensively, educating myself about a number of current social issues. My objective is to determine what cause or causes I will devote myself to in the coming years. I want to use my talents on behalf of persons who have been marginalized by society. I believe each of us is obligated to contribute to the "common good". To date, I have become a serious student of a number of social issues, including the following: *Educating/mentoring students from economically depressed communities. *Mass incarceration, especially as it relates to and is impacted by the mandatory sentencing of non-violent drug offenders. *Voter suppression efforts that adversely impact communities of color and serve to undermine the democratic process. *Economic development and job creation within poor communities. *Income disparity, its impact on our nation's economy and its most vulnerable . citizens. *Environmental pollution, primarily as it effects poor communities of color. As I begin the next phase of my life, I intend to utilize my skills to work with an organization dedicated to one or more of the aforementioned areas of concern or, alternatively, to some other aspect of social justice. I am an effective advocate, practical problem solver, capable executive with proven management and leadership ability who welcomes assistance in identifying suitable full or part-time opportunities where I will be able to make a difference. Contact me should you want additional information or become aware of a suitable management position with an appropriate non-profit organization.
