At EA Mobile, I prepared a tool for the senior management team to better understand which key performance metrics to focus on as they prepared for worldwide launch. I also collaborated with the design team to develop recommendations for new game features.

In summer of 2011 I transferred to the Monitor Group's headquarters in Boston and stayed there after they were bought by Deloitte and became Monitor Deloitte. While there I broadened my project management and consulting experience. My most impactful work was for several philanthropic and government clients as part of Monitor's "Inclusive Markets" practice, which focused on developing private sector solutions to poverty. Example projects included designing several strategic choice workshops for a major philanthropy that was developing a $75M initiative to catalyze youth employment in six different Middle East and Africa countries; developing business cases for the Nigerian government to attract private sector investment in agriculture and food processing; and writing a couple of white papers on financial literacy for the poor and on the state of small and growing businesses in developing economies. I also got the opportunity to work for several private sector companies in the luxury goods, pharmaceutical, mining, and industrial products industries. Major projects included developing a marketing and sales training curriculum for a multi-national cement company; and developing a standardized brand planning process to be used across different country subsidiaries for a multi-national pharmaceutical company.

During my initial years as a consultant I was immediately placed in client-facing roles, where I developed important interpersonal and intercultural skills. I was at the intersection of the public and private sectors, advising governments and state-owned companies on issues like economic development strategy, business policy reform, scenario planning, and training and capability building. I gained management consulting experience in the public sector as well as the oil & gas, steel, telecoms, and energy sectors. My most impactful projects included developing the business case for a $500M corporate venture capital fund for an oil & gas company; providing training on scenario planning for a new government agency in the UAE; advising a state-owned company on how to contribute to the development of a localized supply chain; and building a strategy for a Saudi government agency to advocate and publicize reforms to national business regulations and present the results of the reforms to the World Bank.

My first full-time job for someone other than myself was as a research assistant, focused on Arab politics and Arab-American relations. My largest project was developing an index that attempted to measure anti-American behavior in Arab countries, looking at how certain behaviors changed over time. I analyzed Arab-American trade patterns, boycotts of American companies, protests, student applications, and Arab nations' voting patterns at the UN. The link to the published paper is below. Additionally, I was responsible for monitoring and pulling relevant articles from around 15 Arab language newspapers each day, and for managing the administrative responsibilities of around 11 interns and research assistants.

My first full-time job was for myself. During the summer after I graduated high school, I spotted a niche in the local landscaping market: everyone owned lawn-mowing businesses, but nobody was providing weed pulling and general yard cleanup. I printed up some flyers and went to work. I rapidly grew and soon had to hire 3 full time employees - I was responsible for marketing, customer relations, project management, and finance. I continued to run the business each summer until I graduated from Harvard. During the busiest times I was serving 150 homes and had revenues of $12,000 per month.
