Commander of Air Force’s only E-11A flying unit supervising 19 Air Force personnel and a contracting team of over 50 people in an austere combat environment under the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) $1.1B Joint Urgent Operational Need (JUON). Responsible for employment and continued operational development of BACN on experimental aircraft while maintaining a 24/7+ airborne presence. Executed synchronization of E-11A and EQ-4 Global Hawk combat operations. Coordinated warfighter requirements with Air Combat Command’s (ACC) Command & Control Integration Center (C2IC) and Electronic Systems Center (ESC). Combat qualified E-11A evaluator and instructor pilot.

Instructed and evaluated basic to intermediate flying skills in the largest international undergraduate flying training program in the USAF. Responsible for the instruction, assessment and time-constrained completion of 27 international student pilots.

Responsible for leading team in rewrite of FAA Part 121 formal flying curriculum incorporating revolutionary teaching concepts. Initiated partnerships with industry to develop software training tools to integrate classroom and flight instruction with self-study. Adjunct Professor teaching Aircraft Operations and Airport Operations courses. Flight Instructor in single and multi-engine aircraft.

Facilitated conflict resolution between staff organizations in the fielding and development of the Air Force Air Operations Center (AOC) weapon system as well as BACN. Coalition Forces Air Component Commander for the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) for two years. Led the assessment and development of multiple coalition command and control systems in a complex operational context.

Coalition Air Operations Center, Combat Operations Division. Executed the daily theatre flight schedule to include coordination with multiple launch/recovery airfields/aircraft carriers, air traffic control agencies, participating coalition units (United Kingdom, Australia, Denmark, France, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates), sister services (Army, Navy, Marines) in a very time sensitive, dynamic wartime environment. Performed duties as tanker in-flight refueling expert for air operations centers in Al Udeid AB (Qatar), Langley AFB (VA), Hickam AFB (HI), and the USS Mt Whitney Naval command ship. Ensured the safe completion of over 6,500 refueling sorties, offloading over 423 million pounds of fuel to over 31,000 coalition aircraft during simultaneous combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Project officer for developing Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for Roll On/Off Beyond Line-of-Sight Enhancement (ROBE). Participant in initial flight-testing of ROBE aboard KC-135 aircraft. Led High Performance Team (HPT) to author way ahead for future military aerospace datalink gateways. As FIOP Division Chief, led 8 person team managing $240M program to enhance interoperability between disparate, multi-service tactical data systems.

Supervised office of nineteen personnel performing ground/flight scheduling, mobility readiness preparation, flight records, and aviation training functions for the flying squadron. Set policy for all readiness functions and coordinated them into a cohesive unit program. Fulfilled duties of Operations Officer in his absence. Combat ready KC-135 instructor pilot. Squadron successfully deployed to Turkey for 60+ days.

Initial cadre instructor for $1.2 billion KC-135 avionics modernization program (PACER CRAG). Managed squadron ground and in-flight training programs. Maintained and updated unit training records for 80 assigned flying personnel in accordance with current USAF regulations. Instructed squadron pilots in aircraft handling, techniques, aircraft systems, normal and emergency procedures. Conducted in-flight training to include qualification, upgrade and corrective actions. Developed and refined air tactics on KC-135 operations in coordination with higher headquarters. Advisor to $225 million Republic of Singapore Air Force PEACE GUARDIAN program. Combat ready KC-135 instructor pilot. 5 of 14 aircrew rated “Exceptionally Qualified” during Operational Readiness Inspection.

Supervised seven flight evaluators as T-37 Division Chief in Air Education and Training Command’s largest Standards / Evaluation division. Oversaw two distinct flying training programs: Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training and ENJJPT Pilot Instructor Training. Evaluated the level of proficiency of over 200 wing T-37 instructor pilots and instructor pilot trainees through flight evaluations, briefings, and written examinations. Conducted formal/informal unit inspections to ensure standardization and compliance with published USAF directives. Propelled division to “Excellent” rating during Inspector General’s Operational Readiness Inspection. As Supervisor of Flying directed the safe operation of over 400 sorties daily.

Supervised 25 US Air Force and NATO instructor pilots and students in executing over 4,000 T-37 aircraft and simulator sorties annually. Directed all flying training activities within a time-constrained syllabus in the USAF’s largest undergraduate flying training program. Instructed and evaluated primary jet flying in all phases of flight. As Runway Supervisory Unit Controller, responsible for the safe and efficient air traffic control of a multinational traffic pattern of up to 12 aircraft; traffic pattern frequently exceeded 100 takeoffs and landings per hour, making it the busiest traffic pattern in the command. Students excelled, passing 95% of their flight evaluations; the best in the squadron.

Instructed and evaluated basic jet flying skills in the largest international undergraduate flying training program in the USAF. Responsible for the instruction, assessment and time-constrained completion of ten international student pilots. Flight Scheduler planned and scheduled over 2,000 training events per class; coordinated with other squadron and wing agencies in fulfillment of syllabus requirements. Authored emergency procedure standards for squadron.

Trained combat crewmembers ensuring high levels of technical competence, flying skills and crew management techniques. Accomplished instruction both in-flight and in classroom settings. Supervised global in-flight refueling of other military aircraft. Oversaw all aspects of aircraft mission execution to include fuel planning, cargo/passenger handling, weather avoidance and emergency actions.

Planned all aspects of missions to include flight plans, fuel calculations, load calculations, diplomatic clearances, altitude reservations, ground servicing at military and civilian airfields, enroute stops and more.

Maintained highly qualified crew performance on three different aircraft: KC-135 in-flight refueling tanker, EC-135 airborne command post, and T-38 supersonic jet trainer. EC/KC-135 aircraft had standard four person flight crew; EC-135 normally carried battle staff of up to 28 people.
