Farmsteads of New England provides meaningful and enriching opportunities in an agricultural setting for adults with autism. As Program Director the majority of my responsibilities can be divided into 5 categories. Human resources:Recruitment, hiring, and training of new staff. Evaluations and staff development, conflict resolution, discipline and counseling to staff identified as needing supports. Creating a weekly schedule including an average 240 scheduled shifts amongst 65 staff. Certification management:Management of 9 certified residences as well as a certified day program for 20+ adults receiving funding through DHHS. Ensuring the implementation of behavioral plans, contractual service agreements, and overseeing staff records while maintaining compliance with He-M 507, 1001, and 1201 regulations. Crisis prevention instructor (CPI):Train staff on identifying the four stages of a crises in order to offer the individuals served the highest level of care, welfare, safety and security.Quality Assurance:Meet with clients and their guardians to ensure quality services. Meet with the supervisory team weekly to problem solve and plan for upcoming developments within the agency. Public relations:Attend statewide trainings while acting as a liaison between Farmsteads and state representatives from DHHS, area agencies, and other vender agencies. Initiate community integration opportunities, most notably in 2010 I organized the ‘Harvest Faire’ that draws in about 150 community members annually with the intent of educating the public on the sustainable agriculture, farm based crafts, the company’s mission and opportunities to be had.
