Curtis is the Vice President of Corporate Technology for CarMax, Inc. (KMX). CarMax is the nation’s largest used car retailer, a Fortune 200 company, and has been named one of FORTUNE “100 Best Companies to Work For”. At CarMax, Curtis is responsible for the strategic use of technology for Auto Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, and Payroll. As a member of the Senior Technology Executive team, Curtis is leading business transformation enabled by technology for these critical business areas.Curtis has 20+ of experience in the software development space. Curtis is known for his ability to utilize technology to build solutions to solve business problems and provide competitive advantage. As technology has changed Curtis has played a key role in helping CarMax shift the paradigm from building applications from the ground up to moving towards cloud-based technologies. Curtis has been responsible for leading some of CarMax’s largest technology projects in the history of the company.In 1998 Curtis received his BA in Information Technology from James Madison University. Curtis is also a graduate of the Regional Leadership Forum (RLF) program and a member of the Society of Information Management (SIM). SIM is a leadership organization that brings together IT leaders to share, network and give back to their communities through the collaboration of local chapters.Committed to making a positive impact outside of the corporate world, Curtis serves as a member of the board of trustees for both Child Savers and The James Madison University Foundation. Through his involvement with these organizations, Curtis brings his strategic mindset and leadership skills to support the well-being of children and advance the mission of his alma mater.In 2023, Curtis showcased his versatility by co-authoring the Amazon best-selling book titled "Widowhood Is For Women: Men Just Remarry and Other Wild Misconceptions of the Widower Experience." This endeavor reflects his dedication to breaking stereotypes and fostering understanding in areas beyond the professional landscape.Curtis is a native of Richmond Virginia where he still resides with his family.
