Throughout his twenty year career, American musician Curtis J Brewer has garnered the reputation as a premier guitarist, producer, composer and educator. His diverse approaches to music are balanced at the crossroads of his formal university jazz education and cutting his teeth at the historic country, rock, and blues clubs of his hometown. Once St. Louis' best kept secret, Brewer is now established as an esteemed session musician, collaborator, and bandleader in New York City. Brewer's higher education career started at Southern Illinois University in 2007, with subsequent associate professorial posts at McKendree University, Principia College, and The New York City Guitar School. His teaching experiences, mixed with his varied domestic and international tours, have informed his exploration within the discourse of American music. His performing pursuits have led him across the U.S. with the award-winning band Kentucky Knife Fight and abroad with international touring acts such as Bette Smith, The Clubs, and The Curtis J Social, all which are currently under his direction. With an ever-expanding investment in the New York community, a thriving Brewer can be found accompanying rising entertainers and performing his original music in the U.S. and abroad.
