Plaintiff’s trial lawyer, civic leader, and Illinois State Representative (25th District) Curtis J. Tarver II is an outspoken advocate passionate about fighting against injustice and uplifting communities. He began his legal career nearly 20 years ago, starting out at a civil defense firm. Curtis honed the skills he developed at the defense firm to become a plaintiff's lawyer, earning multimillion dollar results for individuals who have been wronged before opening his own firm. At Tarver Law LLC he expanded his practice from personal injury and wrongful death to include additional areas where individuals have been wronged by others or had their civil rights violated.Curtis is a dedicated public servant whose career included positions in the Mayor’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Independent Police Review Authority, and Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. In 2019, he took office and began his first term as an Illinois state representative. A civic leader committed to giving back, he is a member of the Big Shoulder Fund Chairman’s Advisory Council and co-founded the organization’s Black male mentoring program, volunteering as a mentor for the past 10 years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for both Grant Park Music Festival as well as Chicago Youth Centers. For eight years, Curtis proudly served on the board of DePaul USA, a national nonprofit organization that assists homeless and housing insecure people.Curtis earned a juris doctor degree from the University of Iowa and a bachelor of science from Iowa State University. A proud father, Curtis is an avid reader who enjoys sports, entrepreneurial ventures, and spending quality time with his daughter.
