    Responsible for the only two 24/7 command and response centers in the U.S. Coast Guard's Headquarters. The National Command Center is responsible for collecting, fusing, and disseminating all national and local USCG information for senior leaders within the Service, plus the Department of Homeland Security. The NCC also serves as the main communication hub for all other U.S. federal government departments and agencies seeking to coordinate information and operations with USCG forces throughout the world. The National Response Center is the 24/7 watch for 38 U.S. federal agencies and departments monitoring environmental hazards, spills into waterways, railway incidents, and cyber security situations. Organized and operating within USCG Headquarters, the NRC is funded by, staffed by, and responsible to other agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Railroad Administration. The NRC takes in 50,000 reports per year via it's internationally known hotline and distributes appropriate reporting to hundreds of federal, state, local, tribal, and international organizations responsible for a wide variety of environmental and safety missions. The position is also responsible for operating the USCG Commandant's Situation Room, ensuring 24/7 secure communications between the Commandant and senior leaders of every U.S. federal agency and department.
