Journalist Guy Kindermans and I contributed several articles to the membership magazine.1) The main article for the summer 2023 issue. The announcement states:***Protecting personal data is top of mind for business analysist, software designer, and freelance journalist Christiane Vandepitte and IT journalist Guy Kindermans in the feature article, Safeguarding Personal Data in Today’s Business World.Using the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as their compass, they conclude that an awareness of the privacy laws that apply to your organization’s activities is a vital responsibility of business analysis professionals. The key is to prioritize. Start with local and national laws and always try to aim for gold standard compliance. https://www.iiba.org/business-analysis-blogs/bam-summer-2023-issue-is-here/***2) the autumn 2023 issue. The announcement states:***Last but certainly not least, in What Is Personal Data we argue for a broad interpretation of the term. Personal data isn’t just someone’s name, email address, and phone number. It’s also a whole set of “indirect identifiers” that broaden the scope of what needs protecting. As always, focus your efforts on protecting all types of important data, keeping in mind the laws of the region in which your company operates.https://www.iiba.org/business-analysis-blogs/the-fall-2023-issue-of-bam-is-here/***3) the summer 2024 issueThe announcement states:***(...) If you thought data breaches were only perpetrated by sneaky hackers looking to steal your data, think again. In Beyond the Usual Suspects: Data Breaches Uncovered, we explore the many forms that data breaches can take. Read it for tips on staying ahead of the evolving threat landscape and best practices for mitigating risks.
