I'm specialised in civil structures, with a focus on concrete, both in bridge engineering and in tunneling. During my >25 year career I became experienced in the analysis of structural behaviour and familiar with the application of high-end finite element models. This experience has been applied in numerous re-assessments of existing bridges, from single span viaducts to large box girder or cantilever bridges. In unprecedented situations (damaged structures, unexpected deformations, ...) I'm used to dive as deep as required to understand what happened, for instance in the second opinion for a buckled pedestrian bridge or the analysis of a severely cracked tunnel lining. A few of my tunnel projects were the structural design of an immersed road tunnel, the structural risk assessment of critical details in an existing immersed tunnel and the structural analysis of the behaviour of a Tunnel Boring Machine under severe conditions.Specialties: Non-linear numerical analysis of (concrete) civil structures.
