Channell is an impact-driven communications strategist and multicultural marketing practitioner committed to advancing positive social change and sustainable development. With over a decade of experience working in the nonprofit, government, and civil society sectors, she leads at the intersection of community, culture, and communication. Channell specializes in amplifying issues facing women and vulnerable communities while elevating marginalized voices.Channell was an Atlas Corps Scholar and a part of the Women's Leadership Initiative for global changemakers. She served as the first citywide Director of Public Affairs for the Office of the New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams. She proactively liaised with the general public, international diplomatic corps, federal and state representatives, mayoral partners, municipal agencies, and regulatory bodies. In addition, she managed aspects of external affairs and stakeholder engagement, constituency communications, brand management, digital marketing, intergovernmental relations, advocacy activations, and public-private sector partnerships. She previously held communications positions within the Office of the Mayor for New York City Bill de Blasio, and at various social sector organizations. As a first-generation immigrant who profoundly believes in community empowerment, Channell volunteers with the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies. She is also the Co-founder of Talkin' Back, an organization focused on addressing gender-based violence through advocacy and activism. Channell also serves as a Young Ambassador for the International Black Women's Public Policy Institute.
