I am a senior software engineer with over 25 years of experience designing and executing solutions to complex problems in a variety of languages, platforms and technologies. I had a dream of being an animator. I ended up with degrees in fine art, animation, and graphic design. After a few jobs in animation and video game development, I decided I would instead pursue graphic design. I started my own company which quickly grew to 15 employees with more work than we could keep up with. I used the steady contracts to venture into other related areas - specifically web design (and grew a few other successful companies). I amassed over 1000 successful client site deliveries including everything from marketing sites, to eCommerce, to custom business solutions and enterprise backends. My clients ranged from individuals and small start-ups to large corporations and governments. I participated in some capacity in every contract, and along the way learned a lot about communication, solutioning, team dynamics, marketing, and sales.Twelve years ago that all changed when I sold my companies and took a software development job. I went from a fairly green developer to a Microsoft Certified Solution Expert in 3 months and continued to grow my knowledge, skills and certifications. I found that my analytical mind, logical thinking, and creative problem solving which helped me to be a successful small business owner applied to software development as well.
