1st Choice became a platform company for Northern Pacific Group, a private equity firm based in Wayzata, MN. With over $100M in revenues and 50+ locations in the Midwest, Southeast, and California, we are a premier last-mile regional carrier in the U.S. As CSO, I helped the company transition to new ownership. My primary strategic initiative was to.

Worked with business partner to devise and implement company strategy, both short and long term. Designed route network and developed new business. Helped foster company ethos and deliver on our mission to "profitably deliver every package to the right place, by the right time, and in the right way."At the time of our sale, 1st Choice operated 17 terminals.

Jason Flegel, a long time friend, joined 1st Choice in 2008 and helped 1st Choice expand through acquisitions and organic growth. During this time we became the leading regional delivery service in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. Revenues grew from $12M to $30M.

After purchasing branches in St. Louis, Kansas City, and Indianapolis back from CD&L, set out to make 1st Choice a market-leading delivery service in Missouri and Illinois. Between 2001 and 2008, we boosted revenues from $8M to $12M annually.

I sold my company, First Choice, to CD&L and went to work for CD&L. Learned a lot about the delivery business and the challenges integrating a geographically disparate collection of formerly closely held businesses into a new public entity. I bought my Missouri division back in 2001.

Executive Express merged with Bozzay Delivery to form First Choice in 1996. Over the next two years, we grew revenue from $2M to $4M and daily deliveries from 400 to 900. Sold to a publicly-traded company at 7X EBITDA.

Executive Express started with four drivers delivering 20 packages a day. We grew through direct sales and word of mouth to over 300 deliveries a day by 1995, with revenues exceeding $1M. Learned many foundational lessons about how to build and run a successful business during these years.
