During my first project, I worked on a team with 4 other analysts to restructure the existing supply chain of a particular commodity for a Fortune 50 automaker. The previous purchasing structure saw missed opportunity for our client to purchase the commodity at a better price. Our proposal put our client in a strategic position to gain more control further down the supply chain and greater flexibility in negotiations with OEM's and Tier 1 suppliers. I conducted industry research to quantify the potential savings as well as external and internal factors that would affect the market. In my second project, I collaborated with a Tier 1 automotive supplier to redesign and deploy a new operational system across their facilities. Our team of 5 analysts researched four main areas for successful implementation: organization structure, training, control mechanisms, and time frame, to help our client develop a strategy to standardize practices and structure throughout the company.

    Continental May 2015 - Aug 2015
    Mt. Vernon, Il
As an Industrial Engineering intern, I was tasked with analyzing the current Tire Building process and identifying areas of improvement to reduce overall cycle time and increase tire production. After working with a team of quality, process, production, and industrial engineers, I implemented a 4-step procedure to observe, identify, improve, and monitor the tire building machines to sustain cycle time improvements and realize savings of $35,000/machine for every second of improvement plus additional processing costs. My second project involved analyzing the current usage of powered-industrial vehicles across the entire plant for the possibility of merging vehicles and reducing rental costs. I conducted time studies and interviewed production managers and operators to identify processes that could be improved and made more efficient. In addition to the two projects, I shadowed Industrial engineers and participated in weekly department meetings to learn more about the Continental Business structure and the function of the IE department. I also participated in raw material and rolling stock inventory, attended business team workshops, discussed KPI's with production managers and other departments, and presented my work to a group of senior managers and the plant manager at the end of my internship.
