I have been using Linux since 1995, and started working as a systems administrator in 1997. I prefer to work with open source software, including Apache and Lighttpd, MySQL, Git, Exim, and Dovecot. I have also worked with Solaris, AIX, and QNX in the past, but find GNU/Linux systems provide the most pleasant and productive working environment. On the networking side, I've built high-availability, load-balanced solutions using both open source tools and proprietary hardware. In 1999, I added web developer to my title, and wrote a lot of PHP and SQL in the early 2000s, mostly for content management. In 2007, I began doing development on the Force.com (Salesforce.com) platform. At CRC, I led development of custom CRM features used by about 400 employees in marketing and intake roles. While at CRC, and later Swellpath, I built business intelligence systems using OSS tools including the Palo OLAP Server and Pentaho BI Suite, bringing together data from sources such as Salesforce, Google AdWords, Facebook, Twitter, and Google Analytics. I also became a contributor to ThinkUp.From 2012 to early 2015, I was focused on mobile development, leading a team of developers at GreatVines in building an offline-first app for the beverage industry. Building on Backbone.js, Require.js, and Jasmine, I worked to build a maintainable codebase of reliable software by writing modular code, using functional programming, and automated testing.Throughout my career, I have also continued to wear my sysadmin hat, building development and deployment tools, including making small contributions to the Puppet module ecosystem.I am currently focused on enterprise application development on the Salesforce.com platform.Other current interests include the theory and implementation of data science, R, and functional programming languages. In 2006, I returned to school part-time to study economics, and completed my BA in 2009. I try to think like both an economist and a technologist.
Listed skills include Mysql, Php, Apache, Linux, and 21 others.
