I have been a full time emergency communications specialist for St. Croix County since September 2008. Job duties include answering and processing both emergent and non-emergent phone calls as well as dispatching police, fire, and EMS units in St. Croix County. We dispatch for approximately 11 police, 8 fire, and 12 EMS agencies throughout the county at any given time. My job skills include being proficient at multitasking, typing, effective listening, and processing pertinent information during stressful and life threatening situations, while still delivering a high level of professionalism both on the phone and radio. I have advanced TIME system and EMD (Emergency Medical Dispatch) certifications along with various other specialized training, including active shooter and radio operations. I am one of the staff members responsible for training new hires as well as a member of the Advisory Committee, which was responsible for assisting with the design and layout of a new communications center and radio system.
