Managed Battery Assembly and Drive Unit production. Started up Tesla powertrain operations for Model S while managing 8 manufacturing lines and building a team of 270 operators. Responsible for transitioning powertrain programs from pilot build to high volume manufacturing, including the release of the Bill of Materials, validating specifications, defining the manufacturing process flow and qualifying the line. Defined the schedule and reported progress to senior management, developed capacity models, determined staffing plan, managed materials’ inventory and ensured quality control program was implemented and executed.∞ Released and qualified automated production line for Model S drive train ∞ Set up NPI warehouse and shortage reports to track engineering materials∞ Established process for running engineering material on the production line in a controlled manner

Designed, sourced and ramped a new solar cell manufacturing factory in the state of Mississippi in 18 months. Assumed P&L accountability in the management of $5M operating budget. Incorporated an outsourced supply-chain model and secured partnerships with global suppliers. Crafted product cost model as well as cost reduction road map. Managed IT for the factory, including design and implementation of the Factory Information System & Manufacturing Execution System. Provided an executive dashboard, daily production reports and a database to query all factory data. Established performance metrics for materials procurement, manufacturing, inventory management and distribution. Constructed analytical tools to gain increased visibility in key performance areas. Managed supplier quality through data collection and reporting, product development reviews and implementation of supplier specific quality assurance plans. Recruited, trained and guided top-notch staff. • Effectively managed operations budget delivering results below targeted projections. Achieved executive buy off on product cost model and master plan for staffing and production ramp-up, while strategically sourcing all raw materials in support of plan.• Implemented hardware/software for the Factory Information System & Manufacturing Execution System under budget & on time. Designed and installed new solar panel manufacturing factory in Santa Clara, CA. Executed space planning and layout for new factory operations. Constructed capacity model, production ramp plan and master schedule. Coordinated new equipment introductions.• Effectively led project initiative to create factory layout which would support 120MW of production. Set up Kanban system to achieve Just-in-time (JIT) production and embedded elements of Kaizen philosophy to drive lean operations. • Project managed New Equipment Introductions for back end solar panel manufacturing equipment. This included resource allocations, managing ECO releases of new drawings, vendor design reviews, factory layout updates, scheduling delivery and install teams, and tracking tool qualifications prior to release into manufacturing.

Oversaw 24/7 manufacturing operations and guided a 42 person team. Established key performance indicators, operating goals, productivity improvements and cost-reductions.
