During Covid, I wanted to contribute my part to curbing the pandemic. As a Contact Tracer I spoke to hundreds of people who had either tested positive for Covid themselves or had come into contact with someone who had tested positive. In these conversations, I tried to trace back how the infection had been contracted and looked at the steps that needed to be taken to ensure that the virus did not spread further.I was able to establish a connection in almost every conversation and managed to gather the necessary information, patiently explain the rules and provide a listening ear.

In 2014 I worked at CX Company for almost a year. Here I discovered the wonderful energy that flows in a rapidly growing tech company. Activities: writing press releases and web texts (both English and Dutch) and creating a series of video testimonials. Other assignments I did as a freelancer: making brand presentations for market research companies and writing (English) articles for trade magazines. In March 2016 I Iaunched the website www.secretlyvegan.nl. On this blog I posted recipes, using only plant based ingredients.

In 2009 I started the Netherlands’ first cupcake company together with a friend / business partner. Within a short period we had sold more than 100.000 cupcakes to 60 clients, including the renowned Dutch department store 'de Bijenkorf'.Our brand, our products and we as its founders received a lot of press attention and we had a large and active community on Twitter and Facebook. We organized numerous events - such as picnics and tasting sessions - and introduced a recipe book, a stationary line and tableware that was sold all over Europe / Russia and the Middle East, including Galarie Lafayette in Paris.Within the company I was responsible for PR, communications and brand positioning. I made sure that all our activities were in line with our core values, built relationships with food bloggers and journalists and wrote all the copy.We sold the business to Becky's B.V. in 2014. They launched new products in 2015.

The Hofplein Theatre manages in-house production of dozens of plays for an annual audience of 90,000 and offers a range of theatre education programmes to an additional 4,000 participants. As Head of the Communications Department, I was responsible for all communications and PR activities, such as ensuring availability of promotional materials and securing journalist’s reviews of Hofplein productions. I was also part of the Management Team of the organization.

Next to my 'day-job' as a communications advisor, I started a concept where customers could pick up catered picnic baskets near de Kralingse Plas in Rotterdam, a beautiful picnic spot. The website www.picknickaandeplas.nl is still in use, the concept was sold to 'De Picknick Company'.

For the Ministry of Health, I advised policy makers on communication and made sure the strategies we developed were executed. Responsibilities included briefing advertising agencies, preparing press meetings and collaborating with international colleagues from the World Health Organization and the British National Health Service. Noteworthy campaigns during my time included a flu pandemic preparation campaign and the effort to ban smoking from the workplace. I was also part of the crisis team to manage health scares as they arose (SARS, smallpox, bird flu). Usually worked on lots of different projects simultaneously.
