Of 8% of 2012 applicants, selected out of national pool of 48,000 for passion, high levels of achievement and leadership to teach in low-income, low-opportunity school district in Charlotte, North Carolina. Successfully completed several highly rigorous training sessions and programs designed to develop the knowledge, skills and practices necessary to achieve significant gains in student academic achievement. Participated in professional development, leadership training, seminars, instructional planning, classroom management and family engagement sessions over the course of two years. Completed and passed the Praxis II for 6th Grade Social Studies, enabling further learning and growth.
