Cowabunga Bay has been my summer job over the last seven summers. The last three years have been as the assistant kitchen manager. Within this position, I have helped develop the menu into a more expansive experience than one may expect from a waterpark, from fresh-grilled chicken quesadillas, and fish tacos, to pizza, wings, salads, wraps, and appetizer platters. Additionally coming up with weekly special items and assisting in thier promotion, plating, and pricing. In addition to the daily function of the kitchen, Cowabunga Bay sees nearly 50+ private events every summer with many requiring separate catering needs. I have assisted in the planning and preparation of both the food, catering displays, and service logistics on events ranging from 50 persons to 1,500 persons. Additionally, within this role, I train new cooks, cashiers, and food expeditors and continue to learn and train new skills throughout the summer as the season requires. As such, I maintain a positive relationship with all employees in the kitchen while also building relationships with the General Manager, customer service personnel, lifeguards, servers, and maintenance staff.

Planning bi-weekly student-ran events during the Covid-19 pandemic. Events ranged from online Zoom-Kahoot trivia nights, dinner and a show, paint nights, open mic, and tie-dying events.Planning events during this time required lots of prepatory work to make sure the event was safe for students on campus. This required going though approval processes, communicating with the Covid-19 task force, and managing the flow, and accessibility of events. May events, if possible existed as a hybrid event, requiring the use of videographers and streaming.

These positions were held over my 3rd and 4th season back at Cowabunga Bay.The shift lead position oversaw the morning and evening shifts and assisted in a calm and seamless transition while still providing timely and warm service to customers. As shift lead I helped in the training of the personnel in both the back of house cooks as well as the front of house cashiers and food expeditors. I held this position during park hours and did maintenance before and after park hours.As the maintenance manager, I was in charge of training the maintenance staff in aspects of park cleanliness, cleanup, and maintenance. I taught the new personnel how to 'wash down' the park. A process of using concrete stain remover, scrub brushes, and hoses to keep the park looking neat and clean. A difficult task when dip n' dots, ice cream, and grease are readily available in the park. Nonetheless, we tackle the job eagerly. Finally, in this position, I helped schedule the maintenance staff and picked up shifts when low on staff.
