Operated by local teachers, BWTM aims to empower youth through fun group music lessons. Programs are offered in ukulele, keyboard, guitar, singing, theory and percussion. Focusing on the development of life skills such as teamwork, communication and creative problem solving, the program uses music as a tool for individual development. BWTM also focuses on gender parity through supporting the equal participation of girls and women.In Geita, we work in partnership with a local elementary school providing daily music lessons to children from kindergarten to Year 6. We also work with a local community college to provide music training to young adults.In Handeni, we are beginning a new music outreach program largely for out-of-school children and youth. This program will be operated in partnership with a local community organization and will focus on engagement and educational development.Beyond our daily music programs, BWTM focuses on community capacity building through annual teacher trainings and offering youth mentorship opportunities.ImageOur ImpactSince 2014, the program has:provided lessons to over 300 studentstrained 22 teachersprovided over 120 instruments to our local partnersOur teachers and students tell us that our programs bring joy and the belief in positive community change.
