I have worked in healthcare to some extent since 1978, starting as a housekeeper in a 120 bed hospital in my hometown when I was a teenager. I obtained a degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology in 1984 I began my career in Washington DC taking a position in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Washington Hospital Center. My experience in Nuclear Imaging started there in 1987 with the support duties of SPECT scanning equipment. In 1991 I took a position as a support engineer installing and maintaining Siemens RDS-112/RDS-111 Cyclotrons and was a primary support engineer for two academic institutes, Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC and Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC. I had the opportunity to travel supporting operations from Massachusetts General Hospital to Emory University in Atlanta, GA. In 1995 I left Siemens to take a position as a Clinical Engineer supporting operations within the PET Center of Wake ForestUniversity During my tenure there I was involved in many published studies dealing with either the radiochemical synthesis of novel PET radioligands or the subsequent molecular imaging of those compounds in both animals and humans. My training also includes maintaining and troubleshooting PET imagers from Siemens, GE or Concorde Microsystems in addition to 1.5T MRI systems from GE. In 2001 I left the hospital for a position with GE Healthcare as a high level support engineer responsible for new system installation training and optimization of their PET Radiochemistry, 16.5 MeV cyclotrons, and other associated services.I intend on always expanding my experience in radiolabeling chemistries as well as medical cyclotrons.Specialties: 10 to 18 MeV cyclotron operations, PET Radiopharmaceutical synthesis and related chemistry, Regulatory issues surrounding PET drug manufacturing.
