Developed the process and infrastructure to support a balanced innovation portfolio based on the strategic direction defined for Bell Labs. Managed the collection, analysis and interpretation of the research activity and project data to present portfolio investment recommendations.

Continued role providing program management of the transfer and integration of Bell Labs innovation into product development.

Managed the successful execution of over $20M annually in Bell Labs’ R&D services and technology transfer projects for the Wireless and Access businesses and identified and facilitated new opportunities to leverage research assets in the product units and throughout the company while consistently maintaining a customer-centric focus. Defined and developed the process and infrastructure for the Technology Integration function and established significant relationships both within the Research organization and with leaders in the Wireless and Access businesses to promote the success of the function.

Greater New York City Area

Created and managed a team to market Bell Labs software products and services within and outside of Lucent Technologies and developed all the associated sales processes and marketing collateral. Created the processes for managing the product and service portfolio to ensure that customer needs were accommodated. Identified new service opportunities, developed business cases, proposed services to Lucent Technologies leaders and executed on plans. Demonstrated success by generating annual revenue of over $10M. Managed the activities of the Customer Care Team in support of $4.5M annual contracts and licensing of internal software products.

Greater New York City Area

Built an internal User Experience / Human Factors consulting group from a staff of one to 22 within one year by generating consulting opportunities within the Lucent Technologies development groups. Recruited and managed diverse technical staff on software development programs within Lucent Technologies and actively pursued and negotiated opportunities for those technical staff.

Managed a standards effort to provide toolkits and documentation to achieve consistent, branded and usable product interfaces by generating standards for graphical user interface (GUI) components and tasks. Conducted research associated with human computer interaction of information retrieval systems as well as basic and applied research on auditory feedback for communications systems and web application navigation, which was widely published and cited. Coordinated a Knowledge Interface Team (KIT) concept trial by facilitating interactions between all participating project teams and provided human factors technical support. Provided human factors and UX expertise for hardware and software user interface issues associated with a number of telecommunications products.

Provided graphical user interface recommendations and design support to multi-million dollar Windows-based document management system. Analyzed health insurance, auto insurance and financial industries in the United States and the pharmaceutical industry in Europe for workflow re-engineering. Incorporated the new optical imaging system technology into the new workflows. Produced simulations of new systems. Provided design and development support for both hardware and software on various computers and peripherals. Identified user needs, translated needs into requirements, prototyped designs and tested systems. Revised designs based on testing and customer follow-up.
