Endodontic consultations, initial root canal treatment, and root canal re-treatment

Advanced training in root canal therapy including nonsurgical, surgical, re-treatment, cracked or fractured teeth, and trauma cases. Use of surgical microscope and cone beam computed tomography.

Provided comprehensive dental care for Veterans. Complete block rotations in anesthesia (conscious sedation, intubation, airway management), general medicine and wound care, and general surgery.

(80 total hours) Worked at community-based dental clinics in underserved areas in Pennsylvania. Acted as primary provider for patients and completed restorations, extractions, root canal therapies, and scaling and root plannings.

Checked patient’s insurance eligibility, made appointment reminder calls, organized next-day patients’ charts and wrote detailed routing slips, made patient appointments, called in prescriptions, took new patients’ x-rays, submitted insurance claims and pre-treatments, and collected patients’ payments.

Performed typical clerical tasks including filing, mailings, copying, and handling of confidential documents. Wrote a weekly newsletter addressed to the entire engineering faculty, staff, and students, including information about career opportunities, internships, and campus events. Assisted in preparation for Kauffman Entrepreneurial Program application reviews. Worked with Assistant Dean and Dean of School of Engineering and Applied Sciences to plan and implement events.
