Each year, my students wrote short stories or novellas and publish them in April.We have used Ingram and createspace as publishing services. We celebrated with a book signing in mid-May. There were 40 books printed in 2015. I am digitally certified and guided the students producing quality manuscripts and covers. Some students were recognized by being selected for book signings at Linebaugh Library and Barnes & Nobel in Murfreesboro, TN. In my Speech Class, we created podcasts on a regular basis to make students more comfortable with technology and aware of how their communication is perceived. We used podbean and audacity with standard school equipment to accomplish this. We took a field trip to Campus School annually, and the students experienced teaching lessons to 2nd - 5th graders. In 2017, I coordinated Central Magnet's first Poetry Out Loud competition with our first representative to attend the state competition. According to U.S. News, Central Magnet School is ranked #1 high school within Tennessee. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® course work and exams.
