enjoyed working with NECS and NHS Colleagues in South Tyneside - pathway to excellence, As an independent chair I was able to facilitate some public meetings, ensuring the voice of the patient and public was heard and their views captured. Equally that the message was allowed to be out across with the rationale and evidence behind it.Currently I have been working with Healthwatch Newcastle providing coaching services for some staff members, this has been very rewarding with coaches being able to set and achieve their goals.Currently I am a Lay Representative for North of England Cancer Alliance, a role that I can see making a difference when working on a co design approach. Behavioural changes from NHS colleagues in the benefits of fully involving patients in the planning and delivery of their careCurrently leading on the online consultation patient, carer and public engagement - this is a national engagement by NHS England with Newcastle Healthwatch coordinating engagement with 7 HWs across the country, preparing resource packs for engagement, focus groups, promoting online consultation engagement, directly targeting Healthwatch organisations to work with us. once all of the data is collated I will be writing a full report on the findings and identified themes from patients, carers and public.

I have recently ended (March 2017) by Tenure as Chair for Healthwatch Northumberland after four years. Inspecting and working closely Children's homes across Northumberland - reporting to Ofsted on a monthly basis. Engaging with Looked after children and seeking their views, as well as the staff views on services. Following strict Ofsted guidelines.

Sourcing funding for the organisation. Working closely with commissioners on developing services. Developed outreach MS therapy services for patients in Durham/Hexham and Berwick. Partnership working with Health care professionals to organise and facilitate self management programmes for people living with MS.

Coordinating Yorkshire and north England. Supporting over 40 MS Society branches on managing their committees. Providing training to branches on accountability, Role responsibilities etc. organised regional conferences or volunteers. Health care professionals. Collaborated with commissioners to joint fund MS nurse posts, with a view to establishing MDT Teams - Identified need, stats. Etc to seek a positive outcome. Resulting in nurse posts in Northumberland, York, Sheffield, Keithley and Bradford. Set up the health and social care professionals forum for LTC for north of England and yorkshire. To share best practice, alleviate silo working., promote partnership working. The outcome being to improve services fr people living with MS. Presented on legislation,nice guidelines, NSF, direct payments, FACS criteria.

Campaigned on disability discrimination Act, managed opps for vols DH funding at regional level. Worked and supported voluntary umbrella organisations. Set up and developed NHS partnerships with NHS commissioners and providers with a view to working to improve services and involve disabled people. Worked with the All Party Disablement Group on the implementation of disability legislation. Facilitated and led regional and local meetings.legislation. Held various chairs posts with local and regional groups. Set up conferences, organised events, working with members of the public, commissioners and providers, as well as identifying champions in local communities.
