At Ernst & Young my responsibilities included planning, running, and managing audit mandates for large government agencies including the Bank of Canada, City of Ottawa, AECL, Treasury Board, Ottawa Hydro, City of Ottawa Non-Profit Housing, and CHEO. This included coordinating and communicating important issues with clients and EY managers and partners, leading the work of first and second year staff accountants, and ensuring that the mandates were completed on time. Within these clients a full range of business services were provided including consulting, audit, accounting, tax and management advisory services. As well, provided financial reviews of First Nations Chief of Police projects for HRDC. The scope included obtaining an understanding of the contribution agreement between HRDC and the organizations, obtaining an understanding of the organizations’ internal controls and processes, performing testing on the claims made to HRDC, reporting the observations and making recommendations to HRDC.
