About Cynthia Tkalec

I have over 20 years of experience in the field of education--abroad, local, and virtual! I taught English in Peru for one year, taught full time in the classroom for five years (in addition to two years of subbing in all grade levels), left the classroom to work virtually with independent study students and their families, and now I'm back in the classroom working directly with students again. I love what I do, and appreciate the chance to touch young lives and make a difference. In addition to my teaching responsibilities I have done contract work with a cutting-edge curriculum-development company called K12, Inc. In this position I aligned the curriculum to the educational standards of many different states. In some instances, I also helped write lessons to cover gaps where the curriculum did not cover specific standards. Aside from my career in education, I enjoy writing and editing. I regularly write newsletters for my school, and edit papers for college students; I also write freelance articles and web copy.Specialties: I am advanced in the Microsoft Office Suite, internet surfing and searches, and interactive whiteboards (Blackboard Collaborate), Promethean Boards, and online grading systems such as Jupiter and RenWeb.
